With Valentine's day almost here, here's some beginner-friendly nail art I wanted to share!
Greetings!
Welcome to my little corner of the internet, Moonbloom Beauty Blog!
What's this blog about? I reside in the beautiful but rainy Pacific Northwestern US. Finding myself in need of a little more color and some truly self-based self care in my life, I made a resolution this year to get back into polish and nail art.
This blog is meant to be my record of this hobby, featuring mostly indie nail polishes, nail art, swatches, self-care products and the occasional foray into makeup. A little late to the game, but hey, everyone has to start somewhere, right? This should give me a reason to practice, and share a little something of my love for this with you.
I'm not a pro, and I haven't got any certifications for nails or beauty. What I am is bored, creative, artistic, and motivated to research certain cosmetic ingredients. Please take everything I say with a grain of salt (or glitter!) as its just the experience of one amateur.
I got started in my love of Indie polish when I was planning my wedding in 2018. I wanted something a little offbeat and was looking for the perfect nail color, something that would match my pink dress and read as somewhat nude, but with a lot of pizazz. I found it in P*O*P & Polished's gorgeous Watermelon BubbleSlick from their OilSlick 360 Pastel collection. When I painted my nails with it I was hooked, I'd never seen anything like it. The shifting colors were mesmerizing and I couldn't wait to try more exciting polish colors.
For the next couple of years I painted my nails more often, although it was hard to keep them looking nice with my habits of gardening and doing DIY work. Around Xmas of 2021 I bought some polishes for myself and began taking better care of my nails. I learned how much I love multichrome and shimmer polishes. Over the next year I did a few polish swaps, and finally learned to wear gloves when doing dishes or working in the garden (mostly!). Following some crazy life events around the holidays of 2022, I made a commitment to a self-care activity that was truly selfish, so to speak, in doing my nails and really dove off the deep end with researching and purchasing from independent, cruelty free brands.
At this point all of the products I feature are purchased by myself, swapped for or gifted by friends and family, but going forward I'll remain transparent and clear about where my items come from and any promotions. I want to share what I love about this stuff, and my honest feelings and experiences. I hope you'll enjoy what I share with you along the way!
Cheers & always keep shining in whatever way YOU feel brightest,
Rebecca aka @moonbloombeauty
